Sandra K. Rutherford "Sandy"

Sandra K. Rutherford, affectionately known as Sandy, was born on March 3, 1943, in Dayton, Ohio. She passed away peacefully on August 12, 2025, in Centerville, Ohio, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and cherished memories.

Sandy’s career began in a heartfelt role working in the cafeteria at Miamisburg High School, where she enjoyed serving students and becoming an integral part of their daily lives. Her dedication to the Miamisburg community continued as she took on the responsibility of a school bus driver for the Miamisburg School District, ensuring the safety and well-being of countless children as they traveled to and from school.

A passionate lover of animals, Sandy had a particular affinity for dogs. Her love for nature led her to enjoy time spent outdoors in parks, cherishing the beauty of the natural world around her. Sandy’s warm personality and zest for life delighted all who knew her, and her memory will continue to inspire those she touched.

Sandy is survived by her loving husband, James "Mel" Rutherford; her daughter, Sheri (Stephen) Rutherford-Wieland; her son, Glen Rutherford; her grandson, James Patrick Rutherford; and numerous extended family members and dear friends who will gather to honor her life.

She was preceded in death by her father, John Brown, and her mother, Helen Brown.

Visitation will be held on August 22, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home in Kettering, Ohio. Following the visitation, a funeral service will begin at 12:00 PM with Pastor Bill Loudermilk officiating, concluding with a final farewell to a remarkable woman who will be deeply missed.
