Listen to Obituary

Sandra K. Evans, affectionately known as Sandy, passed away on May 12, 2026, in Carlisle, Ohio. Born on April 4, 1954, in Dayton, Ohio, Sandy’s life was a testament to kindness, generosity, and unwavering love for those around her.

For over two decades, Sandy devoted herself to caring for others through her work as a waitress, where her warm smile and gentle spirit touched many lives. She also spent eight fulfilling years working in Environmental Services at Dayton Children’s Hospital, a place where her love for children and dedication to providing comfort shone brightly. Beyond her professional career, Sandy babysat countless children over the years, nurturing and caring for little ones as if they were family.

Sandy was a truly beautiful and sweet soul who would give the shirt off her back to anyone in need. Known for seeing the good in everyone, sometimes to a fault, she was the most amazing woman who took care of everyone and anyone—even those she barely knew. Her caring nature extended beyond her family and close friends, influencing everyone fortunate enough to cross her path.

She delighted in simple pleasures, especially enjoying outings with her beloved friends Joyce, Pam, and Cathy. Together, they found joy in exploring yard sales, browsing Goodwill, and savoring meals out, creating cherished memories along the way. Most of all, Sandy treasured the company of children, whose laughter and innocence filled her heart with happiness.

She leaves behind a loving family who will forever carry her spirit with them. Her children: Vicky Kruse-Jackson (Brian), James Brown, Jr. (Rebecca), Krystal Lewis (Jerome), and Casey Wetsig (Sean) honor her memory with pride. Her grandchildren—Kalleb McDowell (Abbey), Jakob McDowell, Seth Kruse, Nikolas Kruse, Matthew Kruse, Bridgette Rangel (Rayna), David Osterfeld, Alyssa Osterfeld, Rafael Neil Evans, Neveah Evans, Juliaunna Evans, Cameron Losito, Brandon Wetsig, and Tayler Wetsig—cherish the legacy of love she instilled. Among her great-grandchildren, Kennedy McDowell, Lucas McDowell, Hazel McDowell, and Eloise McDowell continue to light up the family with joy. Sandy’s sister Patricia Bowlin, along with numerous nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends, also remember her with deep affection.

Sandy was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel Kelley and Margie; her husband, Claude Evans; her daughter, Dannale Osterfeld; granddaughter, Arianna Osterfeld; sister, Paula Whittington; and her ex-husband, James Brown, Sr. Their memories live on in the hearts of all who loved her.
