Sandra "Sandy" Louise Emerson

August 20, 1947 — August 5, 2025

Listen to Obituary

Sandra "Sandy" Louise Emerson, age 77, of Beavercreek, Ohio, passed away peacefully on August 5, 2025 with her beloved husband by her side. Sandra was born in Fort Worth, Texas on August 20, 1947 to the late Frederick and Travilla Seghetti. Sandra was preceded in death by her parents; as well as her half-brothers, Mel Dymond and Don Dymond.

She is survived by her devoted husband of 57 years, Bob Emerson; daughters, Kristine (Emerson) Rohm (Richard) and Cherie (Emerson) Hockenberger (Douglas); son, Robert Emerson; cherished grandchildren, Aaron Hockenberger, Gabrielle Hockenberger, Annalise Rohm and Julissa Rohm; precious great-granddaughter, Cecelia Hockenberger; sister, Carol (Seghetti) Farthing; and her brother, Frederick Seghetti (Michele).

Sandy was “Air Force” from birth. She grew up watching her father serve in the military and became a proud Air Force wife. She embraced 23 years of service alongside her husband, moving 9 times - often far from extended family - building a loving home wherever life took them. She found family in each local church they joined. She and Bob were founding members of Light of Christ Lutheran Church in Fairborn, OH.

Gifted with a heart for service, Sandy worked tirelessly behind the scenes, whether coordinating weddings, making sure coffee was available on Sunday mornings, teaching a children’s Sunday school class or singing in the church choir. Sandy had a quiet but powerful gift for hospitality. She could entertain and host parties for generals or foreign officers one day and throw a kid’s birthday party the next.

In her free time, she enjoyed playing golf especially with the Tuesday “9 Hole Ladies League” at the Wright-Patt AFB. She served for many years as the league secretary and one year was the league Champion with her picture on the club house wall. She even had an eagle (2 under par) on a hole in Tennessee. She never talked about it much but it is one of Bob’s favorite stories to share.

For the last 6 years, Sandy faced serious health challenges with grace, courage and unwavering positive attitude - never complaining, always smiling. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her and we take comfort in knowing she is now whole and in the loving arms of our Savior, Jesus Christ.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Light of Christ Lutheran Church, Hospice of Dayton or to a charity of your choice in Sandy’s honor.
