Sandi K. Igo (Dickerson), a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully in Dayton September 29, 2024, at the age of 62, following a courageous two-year battle with illness. Born on March 11, 1962, in Dayton, Sandi's life was marked by her deep faith, unwavering strength, and boundless love for her family.
A proud graduate of Patterson Co-op from the class of 1981, Sandi dedicated her career to the hospitality industry. She worked for numerous restaurants throughout her life and eventually retired from the Dayton Airport, where she touched the lives of many with her kindness and work ethic.
Sandi was known for her stubborn yet gentle nature, embodying the qualities of a protector and matriarch. Her greatest accomplishments were her children and grandchildren, whom she cherished deeply. The love she had for her family was the cornerstone of her life, and she took pride in nurturing and guiding them through life's challenges.
In addition to her family, Sandi found joy in baking and painting, hobbies that allowed her to express her creativity and share happiness with others. Her passion for these interests reflected her kind-hearted spirit, which endeared her to everyone she met.
Sandi is survived by her loving sons, Gary Edward (Michelle) Igo, Jr., Jonathan (Heather) Igo and Matthew D. (Jennifer) Igo; cherished grandchildren, Brandon, Trenton, Brooklyn, Cyan, Chayton, LilliAnne, and Blake; as well as her great-grandson, Maddox. She is also survived by her mother, Vada Sturgill; siblings, Brenda Smith; Jerry Dickerson, Steven Dickerson, and Patricia Dickerson; lifelong best friend, Mary Ann Seiber; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Sandi was preceded in death by her father, Melvin Dickerson; brothers, Bobby Dickerson and James Dickerson; paternal grandparents, George and Mary Dickerson; her very good church friend, Athena Roades; the father of her children, Gary Edward Igo, Sr.; and son, Gary Michael Igo.
