Salud Manago Contreras, age 88, of Kettering, Ohio, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 27, 2017.
Salud was born on February 16, 1929 in the Philippines to the late Pedro & Carmen Manago.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Atty. Luis Contreras Sr.; and her son, Atty. Luis Contreras Jr.
Salud is survived by her children, Arthur (Teresita), Helen, Olivia (Ernie) Avelino, Rosemary, Albert (Marilyn), Regina (Ildifonso) Amador, Silvia and Virginia; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
The family would like to thank her best friend, Anita Hernandez and the entire family of Aida & Noli Antija; Dr. Thomas Dixon, Dr. Joseph See and Dr. Lisa Kaiser; Case Mgr., Vicky Kurinec; OT, Kelly Roche; Fidelity Home Care; Ziks Home Care; her "angels" at her bedside Dominick Antija, Ronniqua Bailey and Akosha Robertson; the staff at Miami Valley Hospital/Miami Valley South, units: ER, 6SAC, HVICU, NEURO Unit, HV6, MVSPCU4, NEURO ICU MSICU and Careflight for their loving care of Salud, with special mention to the excellent and phenomenal Nurses/PCT/Respiratory Therapist in 6SAC and HVICU. Thank you so much to all of you for preserving her dignity and self-respect up to the last moment.
A service will be held on Friday, September 1, 2017 at 11:30 am, with Father Joseph Satish officiating, at Newcomer Funeral Home South Chapel (3940 Kettering Blvd, Kettering, OH 45439). Visitation will follow from 12:30-1:30pm. Salud will be laid to rest at Our Lady of Penafrancia Catholic Cemetery in the Philippines, next to her husband and son.
