HAWKINS, Ruby Lee, age 80 of Dayton, passed away suddenly on December 24, 2017. Ruby was born in Dayton to the late Caleb Hellard and Edith Ryan. She attended high school at Northridge High School. Ruby married her high school love, Duain Hawkins, Sr. She worked for and retired from Northridge City Schools after 35 years as a kitchen supervisor. Ruby will be remembered for her quick wit and honest opinions. She took great pride in her family. She was a kind, caring, and compassionate mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, and friend. Ruby will be missed by all who knew her.
In addition to her parents, Ruby was preceded in death by her husband, Duain Hawkins, Sr. and sister, Glenna Carol Lofty.
Ruby leaves to cherish her memory, children, Duain (Ruth) Hawkins, Dale (Sharon) Hawkins, Vickie (Rob) King, Eydie (Dan) Dutton, Tina (Todd) Willis, Jacqueline (Rod) Kurtz, and Marty (Tamara) Hawkins; siblings, Thomas (Linda) Hellard, Joan Borchers, Geraldine (Dan) Helphinstine, and Candice (Richard) Stephens; 21 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; and many other loving relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 6, 2018 at 1pm at Newcomer - North Chapel. A visitation will be held for two hours prior (11am - 1pm). Pastor David Elkins to officiate. Burial to follow at Forest Hills Memorial Gardens.
