In Loving Memory of Roy G. Gurr 

October 9, 1947 – July 10, 2025

Roy G. Gurr, age 77, of Washington Township, OH passed away peacefully at Kettering Health Main Campus on July 10, 2025.

Roy was born in Oxford, Ohio to Wayne and Lois Gurr (née Keller). He was preceded in death by his parents and his older brother, James Gurr.

He is survived by his loving wife, Karin Gurr (née Pepper née Zack); his brother and sister Thomas Gurr and Dorothy Deaton; three stepchildren, Adrian Pepper, Darrell Pepper and Amelia Pepper; and six grandchildren Madelyn Pepper, Emma Pepper, Zachary Pepper, Noah Pepper, Isaiah Pepper, and Elijah Pepper; All whom brought joy and pride to his life.

Roy graduated from Talawanda High School in Oxford, Ohio and went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from the University of Cincinnati. He built a long and successful career, working for companies such as NCR and RL Drake, among others.

Roy had a great love for life. He enjoyed personal hobbies such as dancing, video games, woodworking, and gardening. He and Karin traveled across the United States attending dance conventions—allowing them to explore the natural wonders of the country together. Two most memorable locations for Roy were Garden of the Gods, Colorado and the National Aquarium in Baltimore, Maryland.

Roy's personality was marked by responsibility, respectfulness, warmth, and kindness—always paired with a sweet sense of humor. He found great joy in spending time with family: visiting his stepdaughter Adrian in New York, attending family gatherings in Eaton, Ohio or South Bend, Indiana.

Roy was deeply loved and will be missed by all who knew him.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM, Wednesday, July 16, 2025, with a service immediately following at the same location: Newcomer Funeral Home 820 Miamisburg Centerville Rd Dayton, OH 45459

Light refreshments will be served during the visitation. Friends and family are welcome to stay afterward to share memories and stories of Roy.
