Roxie A. Breeding, age 83 of Miamisburg, passed away peacefully at her home on January 21, 2026. Born on June 22, 1942, in Clay County, Kentucky, Roxie's journey through life was marked by her deep love for her family, her rich memories, and her vibrant personality.
In her earlier years, Roxie was employed with McCall's as a key punch operator, showcasing a strong work ethic that she maintained throughout her professional career, culminating in her time with Metropolitan Life. Her dedication to her work was paralleled only by her devotion to her family and extended family, with whom she spent countless joyful moments.
A graduate of McKee High School in Kentucky, Roxie's education paved the way for her remarkable life. Those who knew her would describe her as a fashion icon within the family, always impeccably dressed and often gracing every occasion with the delightful scent of Chanel No. 5. Roxie's charm extended beyond her attire; she was known for her vibrant spirit.
Roxie's passions were varied and colorful. She enjoyed watching NASCAR, attending races whenever possible, sharing her excitement for the sport with those close to her. A lover of music, she cherished live performances and had a special fondness for Elvis Presley. Her interest in family history was significant; Roxie devoted herself to genealogy, compiling many books and resources that traced the roots of her family tree. Her culinary skills were legendary among her family members, and she took great pleasure in cooking and sharing meals with loved ones. Additionally, evenings spent playing cards with her sisters were invaluable traditions that kept bonds strong and spirits high.
Roxie's legacy will forever live on through her beloved husband of 62 years, Udell Breeding, who stood by her side through all of life's adventures. She is survived by her devoted children, Michele (Todd) Compton, Mark Breeding, and Stephen Breeding; her grandchildren, Danielle (Tommy) McKenna, Haley Compton, Zack Compton, Spencer Breeding, Presley (Jessica) Breeding, and Suri Breeding; and her one great-granddaughter, Penelope Breeding. She is also survived by her siblings, Beatrice (Tommy) Judd, Vanda Gabbard, Frank (Janice) Pennington, and Iva Pennington, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and friends who will miss her dearly.
Roxie is preceded in death by her parents, Arkus and Beulah Pennington, as well as her siblings, Betty (Wayne) Sparks, Sudie Sparks, Ben Pennington, and Dorothy Southard. Roxie A. Breeding will be remembered for her unwavering love for her family, her zest for life, and the indelible mark she has left in the hearts of those she touched.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 27, 2026 from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home (820 Miamisburg-Centerville Rd., Dayton, OH 45459). Funeral service will begin at 2:00 pm. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery in Miamisburg, Ohio.
