Rose M. Merritt, a cherished and beloved member of her community, passed away peacefully on June 15, 2026, in Dayton, Ohio. Born on December 14, 1945, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, Rose lived a life marked by kindness, love, and an ever-present beautiful smile that warmed the hearts of all who knew her.

Throughout her life, Rose was known for her generous spirit and devotion to her faith. A dedicated member of The Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses since May 24,1980 with the Westwood and Huber Heights Congregation, she took great pride in preaching the Good News and spreading her faith to those around her. Her commitment to her God Jehovah, building a strong cornerstone of her life and an inspiration to many.

Rose found joy in life's simple pleasures. She loved shopping, delighting in decorating her home, and planting flowers—especially roses, which reflected her own graceful and nurturing nature. These hobbies were not only pastimes but also expressions of her loving and creative personality.

She is survived by her devoted children, Keith Miller(Jody) and Adrianne Brown. Her legacy continues through her beloved grandchildren—Cynthia Harrison, Brandon Harrison, Bryon Hummons III, Cle’Von Hummons, Davion Hummons, Darion Hummons, Chaun’Tyana Hummons, Kenneth Haynes, Damion Wright, Andre D. Brown, and Asia Brown—and extends to her great-grandchildren and expecting great granddaughter. Rose’s family circle is enriched by the presence of siblings George W. Miller, Christine ( Ernie) Levister, Gloria Fort`e, Donnell Zane Miller, Ganie Curtiss, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many dear friends who were fortunate to experience her warmth and kindness.

Rose was predeceased by her parents, Hester and Bertha Miller, her husband, Troy Merritt, her son, Byron Hummons, and siblings Hester Miller Jr, Paul A Miller, Ruby Jean Bridges, special friend Miriam Walker whose memories she cherished deeply.

A Memorial Gathering will be held on July 1, 2026, from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, North Dayton, located at 4104 Needmore Rd, Dayton, Ohio 45424. This will be followed by a Celebration of Life from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the same location. These gatherings will offer family, friends, and community members an opportunity to honor Rose's life, share memories, and celebrate the loving spirit she brought into the world.

Rose M. Merritt’s enduring love, generosity, and compassionate nature leave an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing her. She will be remembered with great respect and affection, her legacy carried forward by those who loved her.
