Rosanna Lane

September 26, 1924 — March 6, 2024

Rosanna Lane, age 99 of Dayton, passed away Wednesday, March 6, 2024 at Tapestry Senior Living. She was born September 26, 1924 in Dayton, Ohio, the daughter of the late Hardin and Hazel Johnson.

Rosanna was spunky and independent. After graduating from Wilbur Wright High School, she landed an exciting civil service position with the Office of Special Investigations at Wright Patterson Air Force Base. She spent three years in Germany on special assignment. During this time, she took the opportunity to travel to other countries which she greatly enjoyed. She spoke most fondly of Switzerland. At the end of this assignment, she returned to Wright Patterson in Dayton.

Shortly after her return to Dayton, she met and married Stanley Lane. They had two children: Rick and Linda.

In 1973, Rosanna was employed by Olympia Nature Foods in Kettering. She was a dedicated employee and finally retired in 1991.

Rosanna was a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother who spent many days and evenings attending her children's sporting events and school activities. She was always there cheering them on! Rosanna cared deeply about her faith, family and friends. She attended the Memorial United Church of Christ and later became a member of Patterson Park Brethren Church. She was passionate about helping others and could always be counted on. She lived her faith.

In 1997, Rosanna and Stanley moved to Georgia, where she was an active member of the Franklin Baptist Church. She worked with Awana, the local Food Pantry, and other various church ministries. She also volunteered for Heard County Hospice and provided monthly activities for the local nursing home. They made many new friends and enjoyed the gentle, southern climate.

Rosanna was a beautiful and kind person, who always rooted for the underdog. You couldn't be around her very long without hearing her laugh or seeing her smile. There was a sweetness about her that was contagious and she will forever live in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

Rosanna is survived by her son, Richard (Kristy) Lane; daughter, Linda (Kent) Chadrick; grandchildren, Micah Chadrick, Nathan (Celeste) Lane, Benjamin (Stephannie) Chadrick, Lauren (Casey) Steckling; great grandchildren, Piper Steckling, Phoebe Lane, Kohen Chadrick, Stone Steckling, Kynlee Chadrick, Penny Lane, Liberty Steckling; sister-in-law Phyllis Johnson and by numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Stanley Lane; brothers George Johnson, Elbert (Frog) Johnson, and Jack Johnson; her sisters Ruth Hild and Loretta Linville; nephew Ronald Hild and great grandson Ryle Steckling.
