Rosa Mary Watson

Rosa Mary Watson, age 83 of Beavercreek, OH passed away peacefully, Monday, July 31, 2017. She was born October 1, 1933 in Dayton, OH, the daughter of the late Arthur and Mary Margaret (O'Daniel) Clayton. Rose married Byron Lee Watson on June 14, 1958 in Dayton, OH and he preceded her in death.

Rose was a graduate of the University of Dayton, where she met her husband Lee, and briefly taught elementary school. She had a creative spirit and was a big supporter of the arts, donating to the Dayton Art Institute, PBS, the Boonshoft Museum and many others. Rose enjoyed flower gardening, was a wonderful cook who loved to entertain. She loved her family and friends dearly and will be greatly missed by all.

Rose is survived by her two daughters, Cheryl Leigh (Rodd) Shields and Debra Jean (Rev. Anthony) Sluzas; four grandchildren, Katrina Rose (Cory) Boone, Jacob Sluzas, Sydney Shields and Jessica Shields; one great grandchild, Carter Lee Boone; one sister, Osie Ola (Chaunce) Bruns; and other numerous family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two sisters, Elizabeth and Genevieve; and a brother William.

A gathering of family and friends will be held August 7, 2017, from 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home - Beavercreek Chapel, 3380 Dayton-Xenia Rd., Beavercreek, Ohio 45432. A Celebration of Life will follow at 4:00 pm at the funeral home. Memorial contributions are requested in Rose's name to Hospice of Dayton (Ohio's Hospice), 324 Wilmington Avenue, Dayton, OH 45420 or the charity of the donor's choice.
