Ronald Wade Thomas passed away on October 18, 2026 at the age of 68. He was born on October 25, 1957 in Kettering, Ohio.
Ronald devoted more than 30 years of service to the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office, where he worked in law enforcement as a police officer, detective, and SWAT team officer. He was also a member of the Fraternal Order of Police for many years. His long career reflected his steady commitment to serving others and caring for his community.
Outside of work, Ronald enjoyed car shows, going to the movies, and doing yard work. He loved his daughter deeply and treasured being a dad. He was dedicated to everyone he met and had a way of turning strangers into friends and neighbors. He looked out for people and was always ready to lend a helping hand, whether that meant helping with yard work or shoveling driveways. He enjoyed making food for others and gave his time to feeding the homeless and those in need. He also gave generously to Goodwill and was known for offering honest advice freely.
Above all, Ronald will be remembered for his kindness, generosity, and the way he cared for the people around him. His life was marked by service, both in uniform and in everyday acts of compassion.
Ronald is survived by his daughter, Kelly Thomas, by his fiancée, Michelle McCubbins, and his ex-wife, Glenda Gerdes. He was preceded in death by his mother, Janet Thomas, and his father, William Thomas.
He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, neighbors, and all who were fortunate to know him.
