Manis, Ronal D. Sr, passed from this life on April 8, 2016. He was born on January 12, 1929 in Moodyville, TN, to the late Fate & Ara Manis. He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Valda (Hill) Manis. He is survived by his children, Ronal D. Manis Jr. (Sue), Janice Officer (John), Jackie Heyl (Steve); grandchildren, Erika Moore (Jeff), Andrea & Luke Manis, Cody Officer, and Madeline, Adam, and Paige Heyl, and great granddaughter, Breslyn Bailee Moore. He was also preceded in death by sisters, Ann Price and Blanche Pennycuff. Dran was a Korean War veteran, recipient of two bronze stars. He belonged to the Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite, with 32nd Degree. He retired from General Motors with 42 years of service. He valued education, learned small engine repair, and had a successful lawn mower repair business. He learned the skills for home repair and successfully rehabilitated many houses. He was generous, particularly to widows and orphans. He lost his father at an early age and had compassion for others throughout his life. He imparted a positive attitude to his children. He felt that America was a place where people could pursue their dreams and rise in accord with their skills and efforts. He felt a commonality with others; no one was above or below him. He was good to many, and will be missed by all. Visitation will be held April 14, 2016 from 2:00 - 4:00 pm at the Dayton Masonic Center, 525 W. Riverview Ave., Dayton, Ohio where a service will follow at 4:00 pm. Final resting place will be at Mt. Zion Shoup Cemetery, Beavercreek, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, the family would like a donation to be made in his honor to either Hospice Dayton or the Humane Society of Montgomery County.
