A graduate of Meadowdale High School, Robin was known for her love of reading, gardening, and fishing, pastimes she embraced with enthusiasm and a great joy. Her days were often spent nurturing her garden or lost in the pages of a good book, while also delighting in quiet moments by the water. These interests reflected her patient and nurturing nature, qualities that defined her approach to family and friendships alike.
Robin took immense pride in watching her son and grandchildren grow into strong, independent adults. This was truly among her proudest accomplishments, a testament to the loving guidance and support she consistently provided. Her legacy lives on through her son Shawn Nelson and his wife Anna, her beloved grandchildren Zane Nelson and Janiel Buita, who were a source of endless joy and pride.
She was a beloved sister to Karen Hodge, married to Rick, and David Hergenrather, married to Janice. Robin’s extended family included her nephews Zack Hodge (Jeannie), Lee Hodge, Chad Hergenrather (Megan Terry), and David Hergenrather Jr., all of whom held deep affection for their aunt. Also surviving her is her partner, Robert L. Mahaffey.
Robin was preceded in death by her parents, Theodore and Carolyn Hergenrather, whose values and love she carried throughout her life, and by her beloved and cherished daughter Michelle Nelson, who remains forever in the hearts of her family.
As a wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, Robin's kind and gentle nature touched many. She leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and a happy heart that will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Her family wishes to express their deepest gratitude for the care and compassion shown by the staff at Stonespring of Vandallia during her final days. Robin L. Mahaffey’s memory will continue to inspire love and warmth in the hearts of her family and friends for generations to come.
