Roberta Lee Hubler

April 6, 1957 — February 5, 2024

Roberta L. "Bobbie" McLean Hubler, age 66, of Huber Heights, Ohio passed away on Monday, February 5, 2024 at home after a lengthy illness. She was born to David W. and Thelma Groves McLean on April 6,1957 in Niles, Ohio; the youngest daughter in a family of seven children.

During her years at Niles McKinley High School she was a proud member of THE Red Dragons Marching 100 band and an enthusiastic volunteer Candy Striper at Warren General Hospital. Those years instilled in her the dream of becoming a registered nurse, which she achieved upon graduation from Sharon General Hospital. Her nursing career took her to Colorado, where she spent time as a neonatal intensive care nurse before moving to Dayton, Ohio, where she met and later married Robert A. Hubler on her parents wedding anniversary, July 6, 1995.

She was a proud and loving stepmom to John (Susan) and Eva, and adored being "Grannie Bobbie" to Matthieu, Lindsay, and Cody; and "momma" to her furkids: Toby, Chester and Peek-aboo.

Bobbie loved to travel, celebrating her 2017 retirement with a road trip to the west coast and Alaska, touring the National Parks and visiting with family members along the way. She and Bob looked forward to retiring to Florida; after many trips over the years they settled in Bradenton during the winter months.

In addition to all the memorable times spent with her "grands", she also enjoyed her Florida pals, playing cards at the pot luck get-togethers in her adopted community and a mean game of Bingo whenever the opportunity presented itself. She was a collector of cookbooks (and sometimes actually used the recipes) and Pillsbury Doughboy memorabilia; she treasured the Raggedy Ann and Andy dolls and books from her childhood. She was an attentive Auntie B, feisty, loving, funny, smart, and did we mention feisty? She will live forever in the hearts and memories of all who loved her.

She was preceded in death by her parents David W. and Thelma G. McLean; brother and sister-in-law, David L. and Linda B.
McLean; sister, Denise K. McKnight; nephew, Matthew J. McKnight; brother-in-law, John R. Karovic; and mother in law, Agnes Y. Hubler.

She is survived by her husband, Robert; children: John (Susan) Hubler, Eva Byrd; grandchildren Matthieu Hubler, Lindsay Byrd and Cody Byrd. In addition, she is survived by her sisters: E. June Karovic, T. Lynn Young (Thomas); brothers: William B. (Pam) McLean, Jerry (Lisa J.) McLean; brother-in-law, Keith A. McKnight; and ten nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 13, 2024 from 12:30pm to 1:30pm at the Newcomer North Chapel, 4104 Needmore Road, Dayton. Funeral services will immediately follow at 1:30pm. Bobbie will be laid to rest at Dayton Memorial Park Cemetery in Dayton, Ohio.
