Robert Vansuch, 86, died on Friday, April 15th, 2016 in Dayton, Ohio.
Robert was born June 6, 1929 in Campbell, Ohio, son of Joseph and Maria (Hanuscin) Vansuch, and grew up on Gordon Avenue in Campbell.
He graduated from Campbell Memorial High School in 1947 and Youngstown College in 1951. He served in the US Army for two years in the Panama Canal Zone, then taught in schools in Hubbard, OH and Long Beach, CA and earned a master's degree from Long Beach State University. In 1958 he began a career as educator in the overseas schools for children of US military. He married Jo Anne (Cooper), also an overseas teacher, on November 28, 1959, and they lived in England, Spain, Germany, Morocco, and Bermuda. They retired to Chapel Hill, NC in 1989, living there until moving to Dayton, OH in 2009.
He is survived by his wife, Jo Anne (Cooper); his children Gregory (Diana) Vansuch, Ellen (Michael) Meehan, David (Seth) Vansuch; his sister Mary Dolores Stewart; grandchildren Maya, Emma, and Luke Vansuch of Dayton, OH and Ryan and Kyle Meehan of West Palm Beach, FL.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Michael, Joseph, Daniel, Nicholas, and Walter Vansuch; and sister Helen Sotlar.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 20, 2016 at 10am at St. Paul Orthodox Christian Church, 4451 Wagner Road, Dayton, OH. Viewing will take place in the hour preceding the service (9am-10am). Burial to follow at Dayton National Cemetery.
