Robert S. Miko, affectionately known as "Motown Bob," passed away on September 16, 2025, in Dayton, Ohio. Born on January 4, 1950, Robert was a proud native of Dayton, where he spent his early years deeply engaged in school activities, playing football, wrestling, track, and baseball as a member of the Kiser High School Class of 1968.
Following his high school graduation, Robert served his country with honor as an Army veteran from 1968 to 1971. His commitment to service was a defining characteristic of his life, reflecting both his dedication and patriotic spirit. Robert later transitioned into a successful career, serving as a supervisor at Emory Air Freight, where he would ultimately retire.
Beyond his professional endeavors, Robert was deeply passionate about life outside of work. He found joy in riding motorcycles and had a particular love for fishing, participating in numerous bass tournaments over the years. Music was yet another of his passions, with Motown music holding a special place in his heart, which earned him his beloved nickname.
Robert is survived by his siblings, Joseph (Sandy) Miko Jr., Jerome Miko, Mary Diaz (Fred, deceased), and John Miko (Deborah, deceased). He cherished his relationships with his numerous nieces and nephews, as well as the countless friends he made throughout his life.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Miko Sr. and Mary Miko, and his sister, Judy Tardiff. Robert's legacy will be remembered fondly by all who knew him, and he leaves behind a lasting imprint of kindness, camaraderie, and joy.
A gathering will be held on Thursday, October 2, 2025 from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm at Newcomer Centerville Chapel (820 Miamisburg-Centerville Rd., Dayton, OH), followed by a graveside service at Dayton National Cemetery at 2:00 pm, with military honors. This will provide family and friends a chance to celebrate the life of a man who touched so many lives through his warmth, enthusiasm, and spirit.
