Robert Joseph "Bob" Hess Sr, age 86, of Beavercreek, passed away September 11, 2025. Bob was born in Dayton, Ohio on May 13, 1939 to the late Aloyse F. Hess and Irene M. Hess.
Bob was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Eileen Hess; and his sisters, Mary Ann Iannuzzi and Helen Hess.
He is survived by sons, Robert (Cindy) Hess, Jr. and Thomas (Jenny) Hess; daughters, Christine (Brett) Morris and Deborah (Kirk) Gill; 9 grandchildren, TJ, Sarah, Nick, Tyler, Megan, Heather, Brett, Erin and Adam; as well as 15 great-grandchildren.
Bob graduated from Chaminade Julienne Catholic High School and then St. Gregory Seminary School in Cincinnati. He was employed at NCR and Craftsman Type before starting his own business in 1985. Bob was the owner of H&H Screen Process until he retired in 2018.
He was a member of St. Charles Parish and Moose Lodge #73 for many years.
In his free time, he enjoyed gardening, art, music, sports and spending time with his family. Bob was an avid UD Basketball, Cincinnati Reds, Cincinnati Bengals and Notre Dame Football fan.
He was a great father and grandfather. Bob was a hardworking man who would give the shirt off of his back to those he loved. He never stopped working, even up until his death.
Donations may be made in Bob's memory to the American Kidney Fund or to the American Heart Association.
Visitation will be held from 5:00pm-7:00pm on Monday, September 15, 2025 at Newcomer Funeral Home (3380 Dayton-Xenia Rd, Beavercreek). There will be a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30am on Tuesday, September 16, 2025 at St. Charles Borromeo Church (4500 Ackerman Blvd, Kettering).
Bob will be laid to rest at Calvary Cemetery in Dayton following the service.
