Robert Dorvan Wilkerson, affectionately known as "Bob," passed away peacefully at home on December 30, 2025, at the age of 86. Born on November 20, 1939, in Hamilton, Ohio, Bob was a beloved member of his community and cherished by all who knew him. He often described himself as, “sweet, lovable, kind and easy to get along with.”
A proud graduate of Hamilton High School, Bob's early education laid the groundwork for a life dedicated to service and family. He served his country honorably in the United States Army and Army Reserves.
In his professional career, Bob retired from management at the Kroger Company, where his colleagues admired his strong work ethic. His gentle demeanor made him easy to get along with, and he built lasting relationships with those around him, both in the workplace and beyond.
Bob was not only dedicated to his career but was also profoundly family-oriented. He took great pride in spending quality time with his loved ones, which was one of his proudest accomplishments. His family includes his devoted wife, Charlene; siblings, Albert "Bill" Wilkerson, Dorothy "Dee" Huskey, Gerald "Jerry" (Lori) Wilkerson; sister-in-laws, Julie Wilkerson and Patty Wilkerson; daughter, Denise (Michael) Waterworth; son, Robert (DeAnna) Wilkerson; and stepchildren Amanda (Bryon) Evans, David (Danielle) Stewart, and Bryan (Rachael) Stewart. Bob's legacy lives on through his grandchildren Jared, Shiloh, Rachel, April, Danielle, Abigail, Bradley, Megan, Connor, Hana, Jazspen, Bryce, Boston, Brandon, Joe, Matthew, and Micah, as well as 17 great-grandchildren, along with many more extended family members and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Dorothy Wilkerson; his brothers, David (Janet), Timothy, and Stephen; sister-in-law, Joyce Wilkerson and his great-granddaughter, Eloise Rauma
Bob had a variety of hobbies and interests that enriched his life. He enjoyed hang gliding and vacationing around the United States, always seeking adventure and new experiences. His spiritual life was also important to him; he attended Harvest Ranch Cowboy Church, reflecting his passion for music and fellowship. He was a longstanding member of Miami Shores Baptist Church, where he served on the board for many years.
Bob leaves behind a profound legacy of love, kindness, and family devotion. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends, who are grateful for the memories they shared with him.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 10, 2026 at Miami Shores Baptist Church, 4000 Vance Rd in Moraine. A service with military honors will begin at 12:00 p.m. at the church. Pastor Doug Surber to officiate.
