Robert "Bill" William Coulter

October 19, 1941 — July 15, 2025

Beavercreek

Robert William “Bill” Coulter was born to Bob and Betty Coulter 10/19/1941 in Xenia, OH. He was raised in Clifton, OH and graduated from Cedarville High School. He attended and graduated the University of Cincinnati with a BS in Industrial Design in 1965. He married his High School Sweetheart Gail Ann Stokes in 1965. Their only son, John David was born to them in 1969. They resided in Xenia most of their lives, but in their final year together they resided at The Patterson in Beavercreek, OH.

Bill worked at various places, doing drafting, safety coordination and design work but his true love was anything car or auto racing related, so in 1987 he decided to pursue that passion and became an author full-time. He had been writing articles as a hobby for various racing and model car building magazines. He authored many books and magazine articles on vintage automobiles, stock car racing and the models that represented those cars. He was an avid historian of anything auto or racing related and had been called a “walking encyclopedia” of auto racing and model car building facts and history. Over the years he had many friends who shared this passion and was widely known in that community.

Bill was an active member of Mt. Zion Church in Beavercreek, OH until his death. He is survived by his wife Gail Ann Coulter of 60 years, their son John Coulter, John’s wife Lori Coulter, their 2 sons Maxwell Garrett and Samuel Christian Coulter and Bill’s only brother, George Douglass “Doug” Coulter and his wife Carol of Circleville, OH. He is now with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, but will be missed by his friends and family. In lieu of cards or flowers, please donate to Mt. Zion Church Beavercreek, OH or the Alzheimer’s Association.
