Richard Edward Wehner

January 2, 1926 — January 12, 2018

Richard Edward Wehner was taken into the loving arms of Our Lord on January 12, 2018.

He was born on January 2, 1926, in Dayton, Ohio, to parents Richard Ferdinand and Mary Ellen (Custenborder) Wehner.

He lived his entire life in Dayton, Ohio, except for time in the US Navy during WWII when he was stationed at Port Hueneme, California. He graduated from St. James Elementary School, Chaminade High School, and the University of Dayton. He attended St. James Catholic Church, St. Helen's Catholic Church, and last, Incarnation Catholic Church.

He was a dedicated father, husband, son, grandfather, great grandfather and teacher having taught math and science at Dayton middle and high schools for 30 years, mostly at Stivers High School.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Doris (Wehner) Storer; his brother, Edward Wehner; and his son, Daniel Wehner.

He is survived by his wife, Lillian (Ostrowski) Wehner; his brother Ronald (Marilyn) Wehner; his brother George Wehner; his sister, Marlene Wehner; his son, Thomas Wehner (Barbara Lange); six grandchildren, Joshua, Matthew, Zachary, Justin, Travis and Mackenzie; six great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was generous with his time and volunteered thousands of hours at the Dayton VA Hospital where he also gave blood regularly.

A visitation and celebration of Richard's life will be held at the Calvary Cemetery Chapel on Saturday, January 20, 2018, at 9:00 AM.

Services and interment will immediately follow.

We will love you always, Richard, Husband, Father, Brother, Grandpa, Great Grandpa, Uncle, and miss you deeply.
