Richard Rush, 84, of Bellbrook, Ohio, passed away on January 11, 2026, in Dayton, Ohio. He was born on July 5, 1941, in Burkesville, Kentucky; the son of Guy Rush and Peggy Lee Wharton nee’ Lee.
Richard is preceded in death by his loving wife Guila of 46 years, his parents, his brother Rondall Rush and his sister Debrah Mattingly.
Richard is survived by his two daughters, Teresa Rush and Rachael and husband Kyle Allen; his four grandchildren who called him Papaw, Serenity “Bella” Muncy, Johnnie Muncy, Gaige Allen, and Maverick Allen; and his brother-in-law Rick and wife Pat Muncy and family. Richard is also survived by numerous family and friends.
Richard enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. His favorite saying was “if I knew having grandchildren was so great, I’d skipped kids and went straight to grandkids.” He made up games to play with the grandchildren, the favorite being “Dirty Mustang.” He also loved making up bedtime stories for the grandchildren. He had a sense of humour and loved teasing his family. He enjoyed going to car races and getting his photo taken with drivers and collecting lug nuts. He loved cars, especially Ford Mustangs. He was a collector of die cast cars, especially George Barris and cars like ones he had owned. He enjoyed working in his garage while listening to blue grass music. He never met a child he did not like. He was a father figure to many of his nieces and nephews. He is loved and will be deeply missed by all those who knew him.
The family hopes those who would like to honor him will find a quiet time to remember who he was in your life and be thankful for the time you had together. He will be laid to rest at Sunset Cemetery in Galloway, Ohio
