Richard "Rick" Wayne Gossard III passed away on April 5, 2026, at the age of 61. He was born on November 30, 1964, in Lima, Ohio, to the late Richard Wayne and Norma Louise Gossard. He is also preceded in death by his brother, Richard Wayne Gossard II and niece, Jennifer Montgomery.
Rick graduated from Shawnee high school in 1984, before going to trade school and becoming a certified electrician (but a master of all trades). He started his own business, Fourth Dimension Construction, which thrived for nearly 20 years.
Throughout his life, Rick was known for his selfless nature and dedication to serving others. Always willing to offer advice, prayers, or a listening ear; he supported those around him regardless of his own challenges. His community service was marked by humility and consistency, often extending kindness to strangers and offering help to those in need.
Rick will be remembered for his strong work ethic, deep love for his family, steadfast faith, and the positive influence he had on everyone he met.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Jennifer Christine Gossard; his siblings, Bob Gossard and Patty (Mike) Montgomery; his children, Benjamin Gossard, Sammantha (Matt) Travis, Rebecca (Blake) Heyman and Haley (Eric) Cain; his stepchildren, Caitlin (Cody) Mobley and Jessica (Maria Mescher) Babros; his furry companion, Simba; and his nieces, Melissa (Jule Hollingsworth) House and Shandra (Stephen) Binkley, as well as many great nieces and nephews and too many friends to name.
Rick was a proud Papaw/"Grampa Jenny" to Dixie, Emry, Knox, Mitch, Maci, Adlynn, Elliana, Leander, Lily, Lincoln, Daimyn, Matthew, and Charli; as well as Wyatt and Axel, who were born into Heaven; and joyfully anticipated baby Lucy, who is on the way.
His self-proclaimed theme song, “Too Legit to Quit,” captured his spirit perfectly - a reflection of the resilience he carried throughout his life, and into his battle with cancer. Leaning on the Lord, Rick courageously faced the disease with inspirational strength and determination.
Visitation will be Monday, April 13, 2026 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm with a funeral service to follow at 12:00 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home (3380 Dayton-Xenia Road, Beavercreek, Ohio 45432). Rick will be laid to rest following the service at Memorial Park Cemetery (3000 Harding Hwy, Lima, OH 45804).
