Listen to Obituary

Richard Martin Redinger, born on June 3, 1959, in Dayton, Ohio, passed away peacefully in his hometown on February 7, 2026. He was known for his good sense of humor and his loveable ornery personality that brought joy to those around him.

Richard earned his Bachelor's degree from Wright State University and built a distinguished 20-year career with the Coast Guard, serving his country with pride. He had a deep passion for sports, especially the Cleveland Browns and Ohio State football. Richard dedicated many years to coaching various sports, including football, baseball, volleyball, basketball, soccer, and golf. He also enjoyed not only playing golf himself but was an avid watcher of the sport. History was another passion of his; he loved learning and sharing what he knew with others. Most of all Richard was a proud dad and loved being a grandpa.

Richard is survived by his wife, Betsey Redinger; their children, Richard E. (Allison) Redinger, Thomas C. (Megan) Redinger, and Nicole S. Redinger; and his grandchildren, Emersyn, Myles, and Teagan. He is also survived by his sister, Christine (Douglas) Byrk, along with many nieces and nephews who cherished their time with him.

Richard was preceded in death by his father, Carroll Redinger, and his mother, Susan Redinger. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Richard's memory to the Eagle Youth Sports Designation for Football.
