Dick served in the U.S. Army in the Korean War. He was always very proud of his service. His occupation was salesman for Plumbers Supply, a wholesale plumbing company.
Dick also spent much time on the softball fields in the area and on the volleyball courts. He is a Senior Olympian in both of these sports. His volleyball team was inducted into the Senior Olympic Hall of Fame. One particular event Dick took tremendous pride in was the yearly trek to St. George, Utah for the world Senior Olympics. He took a volleyball team out for 10 years consecutively. His team beat others from Puerto Rico, Germany, Australia, etc. Dick played his sports until age 78. At that time his battle with Parkinson's disease began. He has been an excellent example on how to deal with his many health issues.
Special thanks for the friendship of members of CIL senior center at Kettering Recreation Complex. Keep playing your sports everyone and love unconditionally. Many thanks to the Home Instead Senior Care and Hospice of Dayton.
A private celebration of life will be held by the family.
