Richard Parsons

Richard L. Parsons, affectionately known as "Rich" or "Dick," passed away peacefully at the age of 81 on Monday, July 27, 2026, in Dayton, Ohio. Born on December 29, 1944, to Elmer and Lorraine (Flannery) Parsons, Richard lived a life full of love and warmth.

He is mourned by his devoted wife of 51 years, Linda Parsons (Albright), their daughter Cindee Thoerner and her husband David, and his cherished grandchildren: Anthony (Amanda) Henderson, Kyle (Jodie) Henderson, Kevin Henderson, Charles (Natalie) Thoerner, and Benjamin (Amber) Thoerner. He was also a loving great-grandfather to Sophee, Lorelai, Ezra, Adeline, and Owen. Richard is also survived by his brothers, Philip (Gale) Parsons and Douglas (JJ) Parsons, and many beloved family members and friends.

Preceding Richard in death were his parents, his son Kevin Parsons, his brothers Estel and Larry Parsons, and his sister-in-law Lavonne Parsons.

Richard was known for his joyful spirit and love for children, often found playing on the floor with his grandkids, great-grandkids, nieces, and nephews. An avid bird lover, he delighted in keeping his feeders full and enjoyed reading Clyde Cussler novels. Once in a golf league, Richard loved to play golf with his brothers and friends. He cherished family trips to the Florida beaches. In April 2001, was Saved and gave his heart to Jesus.

In memory of Richard, contributions can be made to the Alzheimer's Association. A funeral ceremony will be held on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, at 11:30 am at Way of the Cross Church, Dayton, Ohio, with visitation from 10:30 am to 11:30 am. Burial will follow at Miami Valley Memory Gardens.
