Richard (Rich) Evans of Beavercreek, Ohio was born July 30, 1964, in Lincoln Nebraska, and passed unexpectedly on September 30, 2026. Rich was a graduate of Stebbins High School and recently was acknowledged for his 25th year service anniversary at ABF in Huber Heights, Ohio where he was loved by many and often referred to as "Dock Dad." Rich was known for his quick wit, gentle kindness, generosity and love for his family and friends. He never met a stranger and often would make casual conversations upon greeting them. He also loved children, and babies who gravitated to his smile and humorous personality. Missed mostly will be the biggest tightest bear hugs he always had for us all. It was impossible to have a bad day in his presence.
Rich loved music - and had a great respect for all kinds. He was a musician and could play various musical instruments including the guitar and keyboard but his passion was being a drummer. He was the drummer in a band he helped found and name called Groundskeeper Willie in the 1990's, while also providing backup vocals. He loved to cook, grill, and smoke meats which included anything from pulled pork, brisket, meatloaf and even bologna which the latter he would often bring into work and share with his crew. He enjoyed watching cooking videos and the Food Network shows and was always intrigued by different spices and diverse food items which overflowed his kitchen cabinets leaving little room for anything else! "Your favorite food hasn't even been discovered yet." Rich had many hobbies "you can do whatever you set your mind to" including resin art creations, 3-D printing, home projects but his favorite was putting on his Christmas pixel show each year that he synced with music. He also loved every beautiful full moon and every beautiful sunset and would always call when we were apart to tell me to go look. Rich was also a devoted Bengals Fan & faithfully hung his Bengals flag out every season.
Rich was preceded in death by his mother, Judy Fitch, father, Richard L. Evans, sister Teressa Evans, and brother David (Dave) Evans.
He is survived by his wife, the love of his life Brenda Evans, his much loved son Kyle Evans who he was extremely and always will be proud of; DaKota Kurrek whom he loved as a son, his little "Boog Boog" Kennedy Garner; his step-daughter Jennifer (Josh) Wilson (known as Mr. P to Rachel, Claire and Everly Wilson) step-son Patrick McCarty, siblings, Darryl (Margaret) Evans, and his cherished sister Debra (Jerry) Haynes, extended family Angie (Dave) Copley, Tina (Pat) Tuttle, Jaimie (Randy) Stratton, Phyllis (Jack) Scott, Gary Johnson and his close in heart mom, Mary Johnson, many nieces and nephews, and amazing friends including his best friend Ron White who will miss him dearly.
Public visitation will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home, 3380 Dayton Xenia Rd., on October 24th 2026, between 1:00 pm -3:00 pm with a memorial service to follow at 3:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Stebbins High School Music & Performing Arts.
