Richard Emmons

Richard "Rick" Emmons, age 73, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 21, 2026, in Dayton, Ohio. Born in Dayton in September 1953 to Thomas and Virginia Emmons (Poffenberger), Rick remained deeply connected to his roots throughout his life.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife of 32 years, Thelma Elizabeth Emmons, his children Denny and Christina, and his siblings Tommy, Leroy, and Shirley.

Rick found joy in woodworking and spending time at home. He enjoyed many cherished moments tinkering in his garage, having cookouts for family and friends and treasured the time spent at home with his grandchildren. Rick could often be found watching old Western shows. 

He leaves behind his children, Vanessa, Ricky, Lisa, and Johnny; numerous grandchildren; siblings Susie, Joann, Cindy, Penny, Danny, Dixie, Stevie, and Darlene; along with many nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends who will remember him fondly.

The funeral ceremony will be held at 7:00 pm on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, with visitation beginning at 5:00 pm at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - North Chapel, 4104 Needmore Road, Dayton, Ohio 45424.
