Richard C. Hanson II

Richard “Rick” C. Hanson, II, 71, of Eaton, OH passed away on Thursday, May 15, 2025. Richard was born September 13, 1953 in Muncie, IN, the son of the late Richard C. and Fannie M. (Holt) Hanson.

Richard is survived by his loving wife, Salvacion “Sahlee” Hanson, who he married in Muncie, IN on May 14, 2011.

Richard enlisted in the United States Air Force (USAF) in August of 1971 and honorably retired in August of 1995. He was a proud veteran of the Vietnam War and Master Sergeant (ret.) earning multiple medals, ribbons, and honors during his career. He also served in support of Operation Desert Storm/Shield from 1990 through 1995.

After retiring from the USAF, Richard continued to serve his community as an employee of the United States Postal Service until his retirement.

Surviving family, who affectionately call him “Rick,” includes siblings David (Judy) Hanson, Lois Vlaskamp and Toni (Rick) Waite, In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Danny Neal, and sister Jeannette Dickey. His survivors also include many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 27, 2025 from 5-7 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home - North Dayton Chapel at 4104 Needmore Rd, with a funeral service led by Pastor Kyle Gulley with East Dayton Christian Church from beginning at 7 PM.

A graveside service at the Dayton National Cemetery will be Wednesday, May 28, 2025 at 10 AM with military honors.
