James Delmar Gabbard, Sr., age 82 of Huber Heights, passed away Thursday, November 29, 2018. He was born April 11, 1936 in Dayton, Ohio the son of James and Mary Gabbard.
For 14 years, Jim was the pastor at the Pentecostal House of Deliverance and was currently attending the Horizon of Hope Church. Jim was a man who wore many coats and also worked for many years as an electrician.
Jim was a good husband, dad, uncle, grandpa and was the best papaw. He could tell a story and loved Westerns. Throughout his marriage, Maxine was the center of his world. He was a true gentleman and knew how to treat a lady and people with respect. He was truly loved and respected by his family who will continue to live his legacy.
In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his sister and brother, Marcella Watkins and Louis Gabbard.
Jim will be missed by his loving wife of almost 63 years, Maxine; children, Cathy M. (Roger) Mackie, Jim D. (Mary) Gabbard, Jr., Terry L. Gabbard, Freda L. (Earnest) Isaacs, Mary E. Gabbard, Rebecca A. (Tim) Collins, Penny D. Gabbard and Kayla Kinder; 19 grandchildren; 43 great grandchildren; brother, Raymond (Phyllis) Gabbard; sister, Betty Coe; and many nieces and nephews.
Family will receive friends Tuesday, December 4, 2018 from 12:30 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 1:30 p.m. at Newcomer North Chapel, 4104 Needmore Rd., Dayton. Burial to immediately follow the service at Bearcreek Cemetery.
