Rebecca Ann "Beckster" (Smith) McCartney passed away peacefully on May 20, 2025 at age 63. She was surrounded by loved ones at the end. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles G. & Judith A. (Shank) Smith and niece Emma Nicole Sammons. She is survived by her loving husband of 41 years, William McCartney. Children; Adrienne (Michael) Gorretta and Matthew (Emily) McCartney. Grandchildren Lucy & Louie Gorretta and Grace and Eli McCartney. Siblings; Mike (Virginia) Smith, Jackie (Bob) Watson, Susan Smith, and Sharon (Larry) Sammons. Special Nephew Brendan Smith and a host of family.
Born on January 17, 1962, she grew up in Park Layne, Ohio and has resided in Miamisburg since 1987. Becky attended Tecumseh High School class of 1980. Her primary role was that of a loving mother, but she had a long stint at National City Mortgage Company as well.
Following retirement, she helped care for her grandchildren and traveled with her husband and family.
Beckster loved life and loved having fun. Her biggest happiness came from her family.
Despite being a young mom, she took on the role and was the best at it, and not only to her own kids. She was a mom to everyone and this carried on to her "Mimi" years with the Wee Vikes kids calling out to her in the stands too.
Beckster enjoyed going to the beach, camping, Euchre, going to the casino, watching over the neighborhood, Christmas, dogs, giving gifts, and above all else shopping.
The loss will be felt by so many and the world will be a little less bright without her sense of humor.
Memorial service to be announced at a later date. If donations are made, Beckster would prefer them to be made to SISCA to support all the dogs she couldn't personally rescue.
