Ray Smith, age 90, of Xenia, passed away January 13, 2026. Ray was born in Orlando, Kentucky on September 30, 1935 to the late Richard and Carrie Robinson-Smith
Ray was preceded in death by his parents; beloved wife of 67 years, Emma Smith; granddaughter, Kristie Smith; sisters, Stella Sexton, Opal Mees and Betty Baker; as well as his brothers, Robert Smith and Elbert Smith.
He will be missed by sons, Michael (Susan) Smith and David (Jane) Smith; step-son, Jack Vinson; 7 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces, nephews and friends.
Ray served in the United States Army for 2 years. He worked at International Envelope and Delco Products, where he retired from General Motors.
Ray enjoyed listening to bluegrass music, riding a motorcycle and horses, bowling on a league with his friends from Delco, playing cards, boating, fishing, hunting and planting a garden each year.
Ray was a warm-hearted man with a beautiful smile that was loved by many.
The family would like to extend a sincere appreciation to Hospice of Dayton and to the staff and his extended family at Trinity of Fairborn for all of their love, professional dedication and care they provided for "Ray Ray" or "Papaw" for 5 1/2 years.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Dayton or to Trinity of Fairborn.
Visitation will be held from 10:00am-11:00am on Thursday, January 22, 2026 at Newcomer Funeral Home (3380 Dayton-Xenia Rd, Beavercreek), where funeral services will begin at 11:00am.
Burial will follow at Valley View Memorial Gardens following the service.
