Listen to Obituary

Quintin Gaddis, Sr., of Huber Heights, Ohio, passed away on September 15, 2026, one day before his 81st birthday. He was born on September 16, 1945, in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania.

Quintin built a life marked by dedication, steady work, and deep care for those around him. He worked for Nibco Foundry for 17 years as an Iron Caster before beginning a long career with Chaminade Julienne Catholic Schools, where he served as a custodian for 25 years until his retirement. He was a man who appreciated simple pleasures and familiar routines. He loved walking, working in his yard, and spending time working on cars in his free time-especially one of his classic cars, a 1964 Galaxy 500 Convertible. He had a passion for boxing, but also enjoyed football and basketball. Quintin loved food, especially holidays spent with family, and those gatherings reflected the warmth and devotion he carried throughout his life. Though very reserved and quiet by nature, he was also extremely caring and loving, and that gentle strength will be remembered by all who knew him.

Above all, Quintin treasured his family. He is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Helen (Doakes) Gaddis. He also leaves his children, Chantel (Reggie) Shelton, Quintin (Datwana) Gaddis, and Toya (Adam) Herndon. He is further survived by his grandchildren, Shayla Skipper and Baron Gaddis; siblings, Leroy Pryor, Ronald (Soledad) Pryor, Lorraine McKinney, Rosie Dickey, and Nancy Pryor; sister-in-law, Anna Mae Pryor; and numerous extended family members and friends. His family will hold close the memory of his quiet kindness, his loving presence, and the way he brought people together, especially during the holidays he cherished so much.

He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Frey; mother, Marion (Gaddis) Pryor; brothers, Harold Pryor, Tony Frey, and Joseph Pryer; and sisters, Marion Bullitt and Arlene Gonzalez.
