Paul Lee Pollard passed away on July 12, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, service, and dedication. Paul was born on September 1, 1944, in Blytheville, Arkansas, and was later raised by his older brother Joe in Gary, Indiana, where he also met the love of his life, Patricia. A proud veteran, Paul served his country in the United States Air Force as an Aerospace Ground Equipment Repairman, where he dedicated 20 years of his life to military service.
After his active duty, Paul continued to serve his community, working at the Aero Propulsion Lab and with the 906 Civil Engineering Group. He also held the position of Treasurer for the Blacks in Government organization, showcasing his commitment to public service.
Paul was not only known for his professional achievements but also for his deeply nurturing spirit. He was a wonderful husband to his beloved wife, Patricia Pollard, with whom he shared nearly 50 years of marriage. He will also be remembered by his children: Angelette Crumble, Mandell R. Pollard, and Paul A. (Bobbi) Pollard. His family held a special place in his heart, and he took great joy in being a father and grandfather, providing unwavering support and love to his children and 11 grandchildren, along with 2 great-grandchildren.
Paul maintained close ties to his familial roots, cherishing relationships with his brothers Elmer D. (Sadie) Pollard and George (Alice) Pollard, and was seen as the glue that held the family together. He often planned fishing trips, where laughter and togetherness were abundant, highlighting his love for the outdoors and his passion for fishing.
A man of principle, Paul always endeavored to do the right thing, a quality that resonated with everyone who knew him. He was down-to-earth and approachable, loved for his ability to connect with others, and known for keeping up with current events by watching the news and enjoying his time at Mt. Pisgah Church.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Pauline Pollard; his son, Eric Carmen Sr.; his brothers, Joe, Alvin, James, Racine, and Robert; his sisters, Mildred, Laverne, his twin sister Pauline, and Velma; and his best friend, Charles Diggs.
Paul Lee Pollard leaves behind a rich tapestry of cherished memories and a profound impact on those fortunate enough to have known him. His legacy of love and family will continue to inspire all who carry his memory forward in their hearts.
A visitation will be held from 5:00pm to 6:00pm, with a service starting at 6:00pm on Thursday, July 31, 2025 at Newcomer North Chapel, 4104 Needmore Road, in Dayton, Ohio. Paul will be laid to rest on Friday, August 1, 2025 at Dayton National Cemetery.
