Patricia Jean Woodward, affectionately known as Patty, age 84, of Tipp City, Ohio, passed away peacefully on February 11, 2026, at Kettering Medical Center.
Patty was born on October 7, 1941, in Portsmouth, Ohio, to Patrick and Bertha Payne. She grew up as one of seven siblings, traveling and singing in church as part of the beloved Payne Family Singers. Her passion for singing in church continued throughout her life, bringing joy and worship to many.
Patty was renowned for her boundless generosity, her infectious laugh that could light up any room, her delicious home-cooked meals that drew family and friends together, and her deep love for all things Christmas—decorating, carols, and creating magical holiday memories.
On February 7, 1960, she married the love of her life, J.D. Woodward, beginning a devoted 66-year marriage. She served faithfully alongside him in every season, embodying partnership, grace, and unwavering support.
Patty is survived by her loving husband, J.D. Woodward; her children, Crystal (Paul) Whitley, Jondra (Bob) Long, Jon (Angie) Woodward, and Dave (Tracey) Woodward; her six cherished grandchildren, Bobby Long, Mattie Olvera, Noah Woodward, J.D. Woodward II, Zach Woodward, and Mandy Woodward; two great grandchildren; her six siblings, Opal Payne, Mary Slaughter, Marilyn Bowling, Ida Bales, Patrick Payne, and Jimmy Payne; and many dear friends and extended family members who were blessed by her warmth.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Patrick and Bertha Payne; her mother and father In-law Daniel and Mary Woodward; and her grandson Joshua Woodward.
A memorial service to celebrate Patty's life will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home - North Chapel 4104 Needmore Rd Dayton, OH 45424. Visitation will be at 12:00 PM, followed by the service at 1:00 PM on Wednesday February 18, 2026.

Patty touched countless lives with her generosity, vibrant personality, and unwavering love. Her legacy of faith, family, and joy will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
