Patricia Ann Kundert

July 17, 1940 — June 22, 2025

Kettering, Ohio

Patricia Ann Kundert, a devoted educator and beloved wife, passed away peacefully at her home in Kettering on June 22, 2025, surrounded by the love of her husband, Thomas Kundert, with whom she shared 54 wonderful years of marriage.

Born on July 17, 1940, in Great Neck, New York, Patricia was a beacon of warmth and compassion, embodying a caring spirit that touched the lives of everyone she met. She graduated from Sacred Heart Academy in Louisville, Kentucky, in 1958, before pursuing her passion for education at Marian University in Indianapolis, where she earned her Bachelor’s degree in 1962. Her commitment to lifelong learning led her to achieve a Master’s Degree in Education from George Washington University, Washington D.C., in 1973.

Patricia began her teaching career as a missionary teacher in San Antonio, Texas, before transitioning to various Catholic schools in Washington, D.C. She later joined the Montgomery County Public School system in Maryland, where she taught fifth grade until her retirement in 1975. Her ability to connect with her students and make a significant impact on their lives was one of her proudest accomplishments, and she was cherished by many who passed through her classroom.

An avid reader with a particular fondness for biographies, especially those about British royalty, Patricia found joy in the simple pleasures of life, including tending to her garden and nurturing her indoor plants. She enjoyed traveling with her husband, Thomas, and found great delight in visiting the theatre, experiences that enriched their life together.

Patricia is survived by her loving husband, Thomas; her sisters-in-law, Jane McIntosh, Barbara Kinn, and Carol German; as well as her cherished nieces and nephew, Ann Shenigo, Gale Hoover, and John Hoover. She is preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Ann Mowry, her sister, Jean Virtue, and her step-sister, Nan Hoover.

Patricia Ann Kundert will be remembered not only for her kindness and unwavering support towards her students and family but also for the indelible mark she left on the hearts of all who knew her. Her legacy of love and dedication to education will continue to inspire generations.
