Pamela Kelley

Pamela “Pam” Kelley,  beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on July 23, 2026, surrounded by her family. Born on February 10, 1952, in Matewan, West Virginia, Pamela spent a lifetime deeply rooted in love, laughter, and devotion to those she held close.

Pamela graduated from Phelps High School in Phelps, Kentucky, in 1970 and pursued her passion for helping others in cosmetology school. She began her career as a self-employed cosmetologist, touching many lives, before moving into factory work at Honeywell Manufacturing in Urbana, Ohio, where she dedicated years of hard work until her well-earned retirement. In each role, Pam made lifelong friends, caring for them as extensions of her own family.

Pam’s heart belonged, above all else, to her family. She poured boundless love and energy into raising her children, Rick (Kaley) Kelley and Kristy Shaffer, nurturing their dreams and creating a warm, spirited home. Her greatest pride was being a grandmother to Tylar (Shawn) Hodge, Tyler(Brittany) Rucker, Connor Kelley, Grace Kelley, Jack Kelley, Brooks Kelley, Emma Shaffer, and Hannah Shaffer. In recent years, she cherished her role as a great-grandmother to Cole, Wyatt, Chase, and Rowan, finding pure joy in watching the next generation grow and thrive under the legacy of her affection.

Pamela is survived by her children, her grandchildren, her great-grandchildren, and by her loving sisters, Charlene Baker and Tammy Layne, with whom she shared a deep and abiding bond. Every day, Pam made it a point to talk with her sisters, ensuring that no distance or time ever dulled the closeness they shared.

She is now reunited in peace with her parents, Burl and Roberta Scott; her brothers, George, Robert, and Ervin Scott; and her sister, Sylvia Dotson. Their memory remained close to her heart throughout her life—a gentle reminder of family ties that transcend generations.

Those who knew Pam will fondly recall her fun-loving spirit, her nurturing presence, and her steadfast devotion to family. Holidays at the Kelley home were marked by joyous card games, lovingly arranged by Pam for everyone to enjoy. She delighted in simple pleasures—playing BINGO with her friends, the laughter of her grandchildren, long daily conversations with her sisters, walks along the beach, and exciting trips with Rick to Las Vegas, where she savored playing slots and sharing good meals.

She chose to live her life as a caretaker—offering warmth and support both in moments of happiness and in times of need. Her caring nature left a lasting impact on all who had the honor of knowing her, creating ripples of kindness that will echo for years to come.

Pamela’s legacy is one of love: the families she nurtured, the friendships she treasured, and the joyful memories made over a lifetime. Her spirit lives on in every act of kindness she inspired, every family gathering she brightened, and every heart she ever touched.

As her family and friends gather to honor her memory, they do so with gratitude for a life so beautifully lived—a life that, through its compassion and warmth, left the world brighter than she found it.
