Owen Eugene White, affectionately known as "Benny," was born on September 18, 1943, in Cherokee, Alabama. He peacefully departed this life on February 12, 2026, in Dayton, Ohio. Benny was a remarkable individual whose legacy will be cherished and remembered by all who were fortunate enough to know him.
Benny demonstrated an impressive dedication to his career, serving as one of the first African American journeyman mechanics at Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. His contributions in this role showcased not only his exceptional skills but also his determination to pave the way for future generations. Benny's educational journey began at East High School, where he laid the foundation for a life filled with achievement and service.
Prior to his successful career, Benny proudly served in the Army as a medic, a testament to his selflessness and commitment to others. Throughout his life, he carried these values of kindness and generosity, reflecting a loving spirit that touched the hearts of those around him.
An avid sports enthusiast, Benny was a devoted Cleveland Browns fan and enjoyed watching and traveling to track and field events. He also cherished the adventures of traveling across almost all 48 states in his RV, creating lasting memories with friends and family.
Benny's proudest accomplishments were undoubtedly his beloved daughter, Stephanie (Keith) Conley and her mother, Cynthia White; and his grandsons, Jaylen White, David Hill II, and Cire (Mia) White. Additionally, he found joy in his great-grandchildren, Kamari White, Heaven White, and Nevaeh White, who brought immense happiness to his life. He is also survived by his dear aunt, Juanita Daniels, and a host of cousins and friends who will continue to honor his memory.
Benny was preceded in death by his parents, Mingo and Sadie White, as well as special aunts, Hazel and Dorothy. Their absence is felt deeply, yet they remain a cherished part of his life story.
Owen Eugene White's gentle nature, warm-hearted personality, and unwavering love for his family and friends leave behind a legacy that will resonate for generations to come. His spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those he touched.
