Ottie Kay Stankus, age 81, a cherished member of her family, passed away on August 5, 2025, at her residence in Riverside, Ohio. Born on August 13, 1943, in Cookeville, Tennessee, the daughter of the late William Ottis Cooper and Sidell Cooper. Throughout her life, Ottie exemplified a caring, loving, and giving nature that endeared her to all who knew her.


She was a proud graduate of Stebbins High School, Class of 1961. A dedicated family member, Ottie was a loving mother to her two sons, Charles "Chuck" Stankus, ll and William ""Bill" Julie) Stankus. She also leaves behind her sister, Ginger Beier, along with her niece and nephew, Heather (Adam) Ross and Ryan (Jenny) Beier. Ottie's legacy of love and kindness will continue through her many other loving family members and friends.


Ottie faced life's challenges with incredible strength, proudly standing as a cancer survivor. Her unwavering spirit was a testament to her character, and her proactive approach to life was evident in her many interests, including her passion as an avid reader.


She shared a lifelong partnership with her beloved husband, Charles R. Stankus, Jr., whom she married on May 23, 1964. Together, they created a home filled with love and memories that will be forever cherished by those left behind.


She was preceded in death by her parents; William Ottis and Sidell Cooper; as well as her dear husband, Charles R. Stankus, Jr.


Visitation and a Memorial Service to celebrate Ottie's life will take place on Thursday, August 14, 2025, at Newcomer Funeral Home, 3380 Dayton-Xenia Rd., in Beavercreek, Ohio. Friends and family are invited to join in honoring her life and sharing their fondest memories. The Visitation will begin at 3:00 PM, followed by the Memorial Service at 5:00 PM.


As we remember Ottie Kay Stankus, let us carry forward her legacy of kindness, strength, and devotion to family, ensuring that her memory lives on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her.
