Oscar Daniel Lewis, a man of steadfast character and deep devotion, passed away on May 10, 2026. Born on June 3, 1949, Oscar led a life marked by commitment to God, his family and his country.
A graduate of Stebbins High School, Oscar proudly served in the United States Navy, demonstrating his dedication to freedom and service. He carried the values of honor and integrity throughout his life, traits that defined him as a person everyone found easy to trust and admire.
Oscar’s career was grounded in hard work and high standards. He was a long-time member of the Laborer's International Union of North America (LIUNA) for 50 years and worked with Leo B. Schroeder Inc., a testament to his strong work ethic and dedication to his trade.
He was a man of many interests. An accomplished bowler with numerous perfect games to his name, Oscar took great pride in his achievements on the lanes. His hobbies extended to boating, fishing, and collecting marbles. His green thumb was well known, especially when it came to growing tomatoes which he loved to share with his neighbors.
Those who knew Oscar remember him as friendly, personable, and down to earth. He was kind, honest, and had a sharp sense of humor. His Christian faith was central to who he was, and he was deeply devoted to God, his family, and the freedom he cherished.
Oscar’s loved ones include his wife, Ann Lewis; his son, Craig (Michelle) Lewis; and two grandchildren, Casey and Caleb. He also leaves behind his nephews Mike, Todd, and Ronnie, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who valued his presence in their lives.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Carlos and Mettie Lewis, and three siblings: Joyce Galloway, Phillip Michael Lewis, and Sharon Stanley, as well as many other family members and friends who held a special place in his heart.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 17, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home in North Dayton, Ohio. Funeral Service will be officiated by Paul Thacker at 3:00 PM, same location.
Oscar Daniel Lewis’s life was one of dedication and genuine warmth. He leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and commitment that will continue to inspire those who knew him.
