Oliver Edwin “Ed” Werner Jr. passed away peacefully on August 15, 2026, at UC Medical Center. Born July 23, 1946, in Cincinnati, Ohio, Ed lived a life defined by hard work, devotion to family, and service to others.
A proud Anderson High School graduate, Ed built a respected career as a millwright constructing conveyor systems. He devoted many years to his own business, Werner Associates, and later served as Warehouse Manager at Office Depot. Known for his integrity, reliability, and attention to detail, Ed earned the trust and admiration of all who worked with him.
His commitment to others extended far beyond his career. A member of Centerville Rotary, Ed also served as a Trustee at Salem Methodist Church and the Vineyard. From organizing mission trips to tackling hands-on projects, he was always willing to lend a hand. His quiet wisdom, generosity, and willingness to help others left a lasting mark on his community.
Ed especially treasured time with his grandchildren, whether fishing, traveling, RV camping out West, or enjoying the outdoors. He loved animals, black licorice, classic western movies, tools, welding, and creating metal sculptures. Friends and family will remember his good humor and the sparkle in his eye when telling a funny story.
Above all, Ed was devoted to his family. He is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Linda; children, Gina R. (Aaron) Smith, Chad Edwin (Emily) Werner, Samuel A. Landis, and Natalie Literski; grandchildren Hadley K. Smith, Nikolas Werner Smith, Benjamin Edwin Werner, and Galina Werner; sister Ganelle A. Wingren; and brother Clarence James “C.J.” Werner; as well as many other nieces, nephews, cousins and other family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Anna Ganelle and Oliver Edwin Werner Sr., and granddaughter Abigail Werner.
A Celebration of Life will be held August 29, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. at Christian Life Center, 509 Roney Lane, Cincinnati, OH 45244, with a meal following. Friends, family, and all whose lives Ed touched are welcome to gather, remember, and celebrate his life.
