Oleta Darcell York, age 74, of Dayton, Ohio, peacefully entered her eternal rest on July 8, 2026. Born on November 3, 1951, in Dayton, she is the cherished daughter of Denzil and Opal (Collins) Whitt.
Darcell was a deeply devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. For 57 beautiful years, she shared a life of love and commitment with her beloved husband, James R. York Sr. Together, they built a family founded on care, laughter, and unconditional support. Darcell spent enormous amounts of her personal time ensuring the needs of her entire family were always met, quietly serving as their anchor.
Her kindness extended far beyond her home. Darcell possessed an enormous group of friends and had a generous heart that always looked for ways to help others in need. Her warmth, selflessness, and gentle spirit will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
She is survived by her devoted husband, James R. York Sr.; her loving children, James R. York II (Jennifer Franklin York), Kelly Elrod (Brian T. Elrod) and Michael A. Jackson; her six cherished granddchildren, Brooklyn Izor, Brittany Izor, James R. York III (Xiaoyi York), Lillith York, Courtney Elrod, and Coy Elrod; and her precious great-granddaughter, Athena York. She was preceded in death by her parents, Denzil and Opal Whitt.
The family will receive guests from 12:00pm to 2:00pm on Tuesday, July 21, 2026 at Southbrook Christian Church, 9095 Washington Church Rd., in Miamisburg. Darcell's Memorial Service will begin at 2:00pm.
