O'Dell Norman was born July 11, 1946 in Denmark, Tennessee to the late Elcue and Zoola Mae (Forrester) Norman. After graduating high school, he joined the Military. He was a Vietnam War Veteran. His tour of duty included Alaska, Montana Germany and Turkey, to name a few places. After completing 20 years of active duty, he continued his career as a civil servant at Wright Patterson Air Force Base.
O'Dell was a member of Chapel 3 and sang in the Male Chorus before his health prevented him from attending. He loved music and taught himself how to play the piano and guitar. He loved to travel and always wanted to go fishing with his sons and grandchildren.
O'Dell was preceded in death by his parents, brother Lonnie, sister Ethel Mae, brother Preston, brother John Earl, and twin sister Odessa. He is survived by his spouse Mary (McGhee) Norman, his brother Perry (Barbara June), brother Jim (Vernell), sister Eula (Freddie) and sister Lily, his two sons Michael (Kelly) and Jacques (Angela), his 7 grandchildren, Lania, Michael, Ja'dden, Tierra, Austin, Kyle and Devin, and his 3 greatgrandchildren Kaelyn, Aubrey, an Mia as well as a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Visitation will be held from 10-11 am on Tuesday, May 2, 2017 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4104 Needmore Road, where the funeral service will begin at 11:00 am. Burial and military honors will take place at 1:00 pm at Dayton National Cemetery.
