Norma "Sue" Wiedenheft, age 86 of Dayton, Ohio passed away peacefully at her residence with family by her side on May 1, 2026. She was born August 17, 1939 in Frenchburg, Kentucky. The daughter of the late Roy and Lacy (Walton) White.
Sue was a woman who truly lived for people. Alongside her beloved husband, she dedicated decades to serving their Church and community, pouring her heart into the lives of families, children, and anyone in need. Together, they didn't just minister with words, they lived out compassion daily, creating a home, and a life that welcomed and uplifted others.
After her husband's passing, Sue continued to embody that same spirit of service. She cared deeply for family, friends, and even strangers- often opening her home to those going through difficult times. Whether someone needed a place to stay, a warm meal, or simply to feel seen and loved, Sue was there. She had a rare gift for making people feel like they belonged.
Her love for children was especially evident. There was never a child she didn't treat as her own. Her home was a place of joy and creativity- filled with laughter, crafts, model airplanes, and the kind of memories that last a lifetime. Summers spent with her felt like a second home, where grandchildren and their friends were always welcomed with open arms and full hearts.
Sue also had a deep love for cooking and hospitality. No one ever left her home hungry. She delighted in hosting gatherings, always making sure there was more than enough to go around, and to take home. She was thoughtful and abundant, a reflection of her joy in giving.
Even into her later years, Sue continued to care for others, working as a caregiver well into her 80's. Serving others was never a duty to her- it was simply who she was.
Norma Sue Wiedenheft will be remembered for her kindness, her strength, and the way she made people feel loved, valued, and at home like Jesus would. Her legacy lives on in the countless lives she touched, the family she cherished, and the love she gave so freely.
In addition to her parents, Sue was preceded in death by her husband, George Wiedenheft; son, Joseph Wiedenheft; brother, Henry White; and sister-in-law, Ruth White.
She is survived by her daughter Annalies (Richard) Matheson; grandsons, Richard (Kristy) Matheson II and Luke (Margie) Matheson; great grandchildren, Micah (fiancé Dovie), Annalise (Matthew), Aaron, Maguire, Logan, Claire, and Reagan; great granddaughter, Finley, and one on the way; brother, Ralph White; sister-in-law, Teresa White; as well as numerous other family members and friends.
The family would like to thank Care 360 Hospice, Lavender Care, and Stonespring of Vandalia for all the love and support that they showed Sue and her family during this difficult time.
A graveside service will take place at a later date at Dayton National Cemetery.
