Nina Grace McClain, a woman of remarkable strength, boundless love, and unwavering faith, passed away on June 16, 2026. Born on September 13, 1939, Nina lived a life defined by devotion—to her family, her passions, and her community. She retired from Apex Machine & Tool, leaving behind a legacy of hard work and the tenacity to out-perform her male counterparts.
Nina was a woman whose youthful spirit never faded, evident by her arrival to grandkid's games on the back of a Harley as well as getting her first tattoo with her daughter at the age of 70. Her fierce love for her family was evident in everything she did. Known as the greatest Mema anyone could ask for, she carried a heart big enough to embrace everyone she met. She was generous to a fault, always eager to help and serve those in need, a true testament to her compassionate soul.
Her days were often spent tending to her immaculate yard, where the beauty of nature flourished under her care. An outdoor enthusiast, Nina found peace and joy in the natural world around her. Throughout the years, she shared her love and warmth with numerous beloved dogs, each one a cherished companion. A passionate sports fan, she proudly cheered for the OSU Buckeyes, her enthusiasm contagious to all who knew her.
Nina’s family was the heart and center of her universe. She is lovingly remembered by her children: LaVonna Breshears, Stephen Chambers, Dan Chambers, and Joely (Jonathan) Hastings. She also leaves behind a treasured group of grandchildren: Celia (Greg), Kyle, Joshua (Jen), Jeremy (Kristen), Sheldon, Nicholas, Nate (Fallon), Taylor (Kyle), Jayden, and Jesse. Her love reaches forward to the great-grandchildren: Laynee, Landyn, Layton, Carter, and Joshua, each a living testament to her enduring influence and affection.
Nina’s journey was also marked by the sorrow of those who went before her: her husband, Larry McClain; her son, William Robert Chambers Jr.; and her siblings: Donald Kramer, John Kramer, Kenneth Kramer, and Julian Kramer. Though they have passed, their memories live within her and those who carry her forward.
Through every season of life, Nina Grace McClain was more than just a presence—she was a guiding light, a fierce protector, and a loving spirit whose impact will forever be cherished. Her legacy endures in the hearts she touched, the family she nurtured, and the life she fully embraced with grace and strength. She will be missed deeply, remembered fondly, and celebrated always.
A Celebration of Nina's Life will be held from 4:00pm to 7:00pm on Thursday, June 25, 2026 at Newcomer Funeral Home, Kettering Chapel. Nina will be laid to rest with her husband Larry at Valley View Memorial Gardens in a private ceremony.
