Neva Mae Griffith

Neva Mae Griffith (née Burton), beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully on July 17, 2026, in Dayton, just days before her 90th birthday. Neva was born on July 26, 1936, in Briceville, Tennessee, into a loving family whose values of kindness, faith, and togetherness would shape the course of her long and meaningful life.

Neva was the cherished daughter of Gaynes and Faye Burton, and the sister of Betty Simpson, Kathleen Parton, Sandra Cooper, and David Burton. She was preceded in death by her brother Walter Burton and sisters Diane Brooks and Nina Meaders. Throughout her life, Neva treasured her roots and maintained close ties with her siblings, nurturing these bonds with the warmth and sincerity for which she was known.

Neva found her life’s love in Robert Griffith, with whom she shared sixty-one devoted years of marriage prior to his passing. This extraordinary partnership was a testament to enduring love, mutual respect, and shared faith—a foundation upon which they raised a beautiful family. Together, Neva and Robert faced life’s joys and sorrows with unwavering commitment, creating a legacy enriched by family and grounded in devotion.

Neva’s greatest pride and joy came from her children and their families. She is proceeded in death by her eldest son Robert (Bobby) Griffith and survived by her daughter Vickie (Randy) Walsh and sons Jeff (Phyllis) Griffith and Randy (Robin) Griffith. Her family grew over the years to include grandchildren Jason (Jessica) Walsh, Jared (Ashley) Walsh, Jessica (Michael) McGowan, Tyler Griffith, Krysten (Don) Smith, and Jake Griffith, all of whom were blessed by her nurturing spirit, gentle wisdom, and unwavering support. The circle of love Neva created further embraced her great-grandchildren: Beckett, Leila, Preston, Grayson, Maddie, Avyn, Avery, and Kyleigh, each carrying forward her legacy of kindness and faith. Neva held a special place in her heart for all of her cousins, nieces, and nephews.

A dedicated homemaker, Neva poured her talents and boundless affection into making her home a haven for all who entered. She was known for staying connected with friends and family, always extending a listening ear or a note of encouragement. Her home was surrounded by the beauty of her beloved garden, reflecting her love for nature and dedication to nurturing life in every form.

Neva found strength and solace in her faith; her Bible was a constant companion, and her faith guided her throughout her journey. She was steadfast in her beliefs and took great comfort in sharing spiritual wisdom with her loved ones.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during a visitation at Newcomer Funeral Home, North Dayton, 4104 Needmore Rd, Dayton, OH 45424, on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM. A funeral service will follow at 1:30 PM at the same location. Neva will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband, Robert at Dayton Memorial Park, 8135 N Dixie Dr, Dayton, OH 45414.

Neva Mae Griffith’s long life was marked by devotion to family, steadfast faith, and gentle kindness. She will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and cherished always.
