Montez Lamar “Tez” Harding, passed away unexpectedly at the age of 40 on February 21, 2026 in Xenia, Ohio.
Montez was born August 5, 1985 to Tawnya L. Henry and Michael A. Harding.
He was preceded death by his maternal grandfather, Edward M. Henry, Sr.; paternal grandmother, Barbara J. Harding; brother, Miguel “Mook” Henry and bonus brother, Anthony M. Dukes.
Montez was a kind, generous and loving man known for being a great listener and a steady presence in the lives of those he loved. He worked in the construction industry and took pride in working with his hands, building and creating with skill and dedication. As a teen, he was a DJ who loved music and bringing people together, he also played in the Xenia High School band and drumline. He played football in his younger years and went on to play semi-professionally as an adult.
In his free time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time outdoors. Montez loved to watch the Ohio State Buckeyes and the Philadelphia Eagles. Above all, Montez cherished his family.
He is survived by his children, Kaden L. Harding, Lamya R. Harding and Makya A. Harding, all of Xenia; parents, Tawnya L. Henry and Michael A. Harding of Xenia; sister, Alicia Harding; sister-in-law, Krystal Williams; maternal grandmother, Janice Henry of Xenia; paternal grandfather, Luther Harding of Cedarville; a host of aunts, uncles, nephews, cousins and friends, as well as Mario Cochran, Marcilas Garcia and Chris Jones - though not brothers by birth, they were brothers by choice.
Visitation will be held from 11:00am-1:00pm on Saturday, March 7, 2026 at First United Christian Church (626 N Columbus St, Xenia), with a Celebration of Life being held at 1:00pm.
Montez will be laid to rest at St. Brigid Cemetery following the service.
