Milla Shea Fecke

Milla Shea Fecke, 25, passed away on July 13, 2026, leaving behind a loving family, a huge circle of friends, and countless people whose lives were brighter because she was in them.

Born in Kettering, Ohio, on June 2, 2001, Milla packed more love, laughter, and memories into her 25 years than many do in a lifetime. She graduated from Kettering Fairmont High School in 2019, but some of the friendships she treasured most began long before that. From childhood through adulthood, Milla had a gift for forming deep, lasting connections, and the people she loved remained an important part of her life.

If you knew Milla, chances are you can still hear her laugh. Milla had a way of making even the most ordinary day memorable. She was funny without trying to be, laughed with her whole heart, and somehow made everyone around her laugh too. She was genuine, artistic, compassionate, and deeply empathetic. People were naturally drawn to her warmth, and she had a rare ability to leave others feeling better than she found them.

The things Milla loved were unmistakably Milla. She adored pugs, especially Harley and Darwin. She could quote episodes of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, loved horror movies, and never got tired of SpongeBob, Family Guy, or American Dad. She loved Blink-182 (and Tom DeLonge even more), Ke$ha, and New Found Glory.

She was happiest outdoors, whether hiking, kayaking, swimming, or spending time near the ocean. She had a lifelong fascination with turtles and cicadas, often collecting the latter simply because she found them interesting. She loved card games, board games, buffalo chicken dip, the colors black and blue, and all the small things that made her uniquely Milla.

From a young age, Milla was a natural athlete. She played softball, basketball, practiced gymnastics, and even breakdanced. Her playful spirit never faded. Family members loved that she could still drop into the splits, often surprising her niece Aliyah and making everyone laugh.

More than anything, Milla loved her people. Her mom was her best friend. She shared a special bond with her dad, John, especially their mutual love of cartoons and horror movies. She was the best sister to Fern, an amazing aunt to Grayson, Aliyah, and Connor, and a friend who showed up for the people she loved. Her friendships, especially with Hadley Short and Caitlyn Pendergrass, spanned years and meant the world to her. She was also a loving granddaughter, niece, cousin, and friend.

One story from her mom captures Milla perfectly. After Milla invited her to a work Christmas party, coworker after coworker came over to talk about how much they loved working with her. They talked about her kindness, her smile, her work ethic, and how she made every shift a little better just by being there.

For her mom, hearing those stories was incredibly special, but not surprising. The person everyone described was the same Milla her family knew and loved. Throughout her life, people often shared stories about how she had made them laugh, brightened their day, or helped them through a difficult moment. She had a way of making people feel welcome, valued, and cared for, and that is how so many will remember her.

Her mother wrote these words in tribute to her daughter:

Some people leave footprints. Milla left light. She made strangers feel welcome, friends feel like family, and every room a little warmer simply by being there.

She gave kindness without asking for anything in return, laughed with her whole heart, and loved with quiet generosity.

Though her years were far too few, the love she gave will outlive them all.

So when you find yourself smiling at a memory of her, know that her light is still reaching you.

Those who knew Milla know how true those words are. Her light lives on in the laughter she shared, the friendships she nurtured, the family she adored, and the countless lives she touched with her kindness.

Milla is survived by her father, John Fecke; her mother, Oshiana Lindsley; their partners, Alie Keegan and Roland; her sister, Fern Fecke; her grandmother, Lenza Smith; her best friend, Hadley; her godmother, Anna; her aunts and uncles, Tracy and Ulli Flathmann, Dan Fecke and partner Crystal Cox; her cousins, Lydia and Markus Flathmann, Caitlyn Pendergrass and partner Seth O'Dell, and Lilly Fecke; her nieces and nephews, Grayson, Alayah, and Connor O'Dell; and many loving friends.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, John T. Fecke and Pat Upton.

Though her time here was far too short, the love, laughter, and light Milla brought into the world will never be forgotten. A visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, at Newcomer Funeral Home, Kettering Chapel, located at 3940 Kettering Blvd.
