Michelle Ann Barnett, of Dayton, Ohio, passed away on September 25, 2026, in Dayton. She was born in Dayton, and spent her life rooted in the community she called home.
Michelle was a graduate of Fairmont High School and went on to serve her city as a City of Dayton Police Officer before her retirement. She was also a faithful member of Cornerstone Baptist Temple in Dayton, Ohio. Through the years, she was known as a very generous and funny woman, an animal lover, and a master storyteller whose way of sharing a memory could brighten a room. Above all, she loved her family and Jesus, and those loves shaped the way she lived her life.
She found joy in many simple and meaningful pleasures. Michelle loved riding her Harley Davidson, thrift shopping, fine dining, and antiquing. As a child, she loved riding her horse Missy, a memory that remained part of the spirit of adventure and independence that stayed with her throughout her life. Her family was her proudest accomplishment, and she treasured the time she spent with those she loved most.
Michelle leaves behind a family who will carry her memory forward with deep love. She is survived by her children, Harmony Michelle Stidham and her husband, Rick, Heather Morgan Spellman, and Jake Sterling Barnett. She also leaves her beloved grandchildren, Brianna Stidham, Mitchell Stidham, Vincent Spellman, Brooklyn Barnett, Katelyn Barnett, and Raelyn Barnett, each of whom held a special place in her heart. She is also survived by her sister, Melody Skaggs, and her brother, Malcom McCuiston. The love Michelle gave so freely to her family will remain with them always, in shared stories, treasured memories, and the lasting example of her warmth and devotion.
She was preceded in death by her son, Zachary Elliot Barnett; her father, Clyde Mitchell; and her mother, Sandra Irene McCuiston.
Michelle will be remembered for her laughter, her kindness, her faith, and the love she poured into her family. Her life touched many, and her memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
