With deep sadness, the family announces the passing of Michael Kenneth Ray, of Dayton, Ohio, on September 14, 2026. He was born on February 15, 1977.
Mike accepted Jesus Christ while attending church camp in the sixth grade and later chose to be baptized outdoors in a stream. His faith remained an important part of his life. He was active in Bible quizzing and youth group throughout his younger years.
After graduating from Northmont High School, Mike earned a bachelor’s degree in Fine Art. He had a deep love for art and especially enjoyed painting and sketching nature scenes in his home studio.
Mike had many interests and found joy in a wide variety of activities, including bowling, disc golf, University of Dayton basketball, hiking, camping, Cincinnati Reds baseball, and attending Phish concerts with friends. But above all, Mike treasured the time he spent with his family and friends.
Mike had a generous heart and a gift for serving others. No matter what he was going through, he was quick to ask how you were doing and whether you needed anything. He noticed the little things—the preferences, needs, and details that others might overlook—and, more importantly,he acted on them. Caring for others was simply part of who he was.
Mike is survived by his loving parents, Sue and Ken Ray; his sister, Julie Mesloh (Jonathan); five fantastic nieces and nephews, Joshua, Grace, Lydia, Samuel, and Silas; several aunts, uncles, and cousins; and many dear friends who will miss him deeply.
Mike leaves behind a life filled with faith, creativity, kindness, friendship, and love for his family and friends. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
Visitation will be held from 4:30pm-6:00pm on Tuesday, September 22, 2026 at Newcomer Funeral Home (3380 Dayton-Xenia Rd, Beavercreek), where a memorial service will be held at 6:00pm.
